Full day tour starting in the morning between 9-11am with many destinations on offer

1. Ride a cruisey 20km loop from Ahuriri/Napier city to Bayview and visit Crab Farm winery for lunch. A perfect half day experience.
2. OR Ride the 40km loop past Napier City to Taradale (visit Church Road and Mission Estate) and back to Ahuriri or Napier city - 3-6 hrs depending on your winery stops!
3. OR you can do the FULL 55km loop and include via Bayview (50km) and visit Crab Farm winery as well! Full day.
4. OR ride from Ahuriri/Napier city to Black Barn 30-35km and explore the Cape Kidnappers area (+10km) - book our pick up at Black Barn 4pm. Full day experience.

Departing the port village of Ahuriri you cycle around the port to Napier city, a world renowned Art Deco treasure. Spend time enjoying the art deco city before following the coastal pathway with spectacular views across the Pacific to Cape Kidnappers. 

From Awatoto you can turn inland and follow the trail up the Tutaekuri River (ride 2), overlooking orchards to the suburb of Taradale. Visit two of the region’s finest wineries, Church Rd and the Mission Estate before cycling on to the Ahuriri Estuary trail to see many native birds and wetlands to looop back to Ahuriri. 

OR take Ride 3 and include an add-on to Bayview (+15km) where you will find the relaxed Crab Farm winery- a real jewel before heading down the northern coastal trails and back to Ahuriri. 

OR at Awatoto carry on down the coastal trails (Ride 4) where you'll come to Ātea a Rangi -  Celestial Star Compass at Waitangi Regional Park, a great place to stop. Learn about how māori navigators used the stars to sail their wakas (canoes) to New Zealand. Cycle on through the wetlands, home to numerous black swans to the village of Clive, and onto the Tuki Tuki river. Cycle up the river trail to get to Askerne Winery, Te Mata and Black Barn to indulge in wine tastings at these three fine Hawke's Bay wineries. At the end of the day you will be collected (4pm from Black Barn) and transferred back to Ahuriri.

Finish off in Ahuriri with a visit to Urban Winery, Madame Social or one of many restaurants and bars in this relaxed coastal village.

We recommend starting your ride between 9am-11.30am depending on how far you want to go! All rides start at our base and finish at our base.

NO WORRIES upgrade $5pp This package gives you all the extras that will make your day out riding as enjoyable and easy as we can make it, includes a bottle of water, super soft gel seat cover, plus a carrier bag (to hold all the bottles of wine that you will buy!). 

Bike Insurance Package for the day $10pp. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. If your bike is stolen or damaged unintentionally while out on hire with you, you are responsible for the cost. Purchasing this simple insurance covers this possibility.  This has a priviso that you must take good care of your hired bike while in your possession, this includes LOCKING it through the frame, riding safely and responsibly and ensuring it comes back to the Takaro Trails base at the end of your hire time.

NOTE: The average cost of Takaro electric bikes is $4500, standard bikes $1000. Your Travel and/or NZ Contents insurance MAY cover theft and damage, refer to your policy to confirm.
