SELF-GUIDED CYCLE and WINERY VISIT for all CRUISE SHIP visitors to Napier – 4 hours - timed to work with your ship arrival and departure.

Explore Hawke’s Bay by bike – a fun, easy cycle ride, ending in a visit to one of the top wine & food establishments in Hawke’s Bay.

An easy 20km/12 miles (approx. 2 hours cycling) self guided cycling tour along a dedicated cycle pathway beside the Pacific Coast and through a birdlife sanctuary finishing at Cape Kidnappers - an iconic area of Hawke’s Bay’s. Some of our renowned wineries (Elephant Hill, Clearview Estate and Te Awanga estate) are all situated here too. OPTIONS: ride a standard pushbike or choose a cruisy E-Bike (available for all sizes - 140cm-195cm).

We will meet you at the Napier i-site (where the shuttle bus from the ship drops you off) with your bike and map approx 1-2 hours after your ship docks. TIME TO BE CONFIRMED WITH YOU VIA EMAIL/MESSENGER when booking PLUS we will connect with you when you are onboard the ship. 

Napier i-site is the point where you disembark from the cruise ship shuttles and where you will be starting your ride. Explore Napier City, the heart of the fascinating Art Deco world capital then head along the Pacific Coast to pass through the Napier port village of Ahuriri – a seaside village full of cafes and shops.

The ride then travels along the Pacific ocean coastal trails towards Cape Kidnappers and through the Clive Estuary where you will view the variety of protected birdlife in this Department of Conservation Wildlife Sanctuary. You get to ride beside a working farm and see real-life New Zealand. To end, you will be at one of Hawke’s Bay leading hospitality icons Hygge at Clifton. From here you can choose a wine tasting or grab a bite to eat, before our van arrives to shuttle you back to the start - Napier I-site. The total tour time is around 4 hours.

PLEASE NOTE: The time we meet you off the boat will depend on what boat you are on and the time it docks in the Napier port - we will confirm meeting time after youhave booked (probably when you are onboard the ship). Please ensure we have a way of contacting you while you are on the ship - cellphone number + country code is great - we will message you via WHATS APP OR if you prefer we can use FACEBOOK MESSENGER (please send us a message from our website so we can contact you easily when you are on board the ship).

  • The cycling portion of this tour is a total distance of 12 miles (20kms) and is completely flat and gentle, so suitable for all riders with a moderate level of fitness. 
  • All tour participants are provided with maps and instructions plus Takaro Trails support is available throughout the day should it be required.
  • Child is 14 years and under and if you are wanting to book e-bikes, must be over 140cm.
  • PICK UP is from HYGGE at Clifton (OPEN 7 days) - they offer a range of food and drink including awesome wine tastings

We recommend that you bring a water bottle, sun screen and a jacket.
