SELF-GUIDED CYCLE to WINERIES for all CRUISE SHIP visitors to Napier – HALF DAY less than 4 hours.

Explore Hawke’s Bay by bike – a fun, easy cycle ride to visit to one of the top winery establishments in Hawke’s Bay.

An easy 20km/12 miles (approx. 2 hours cycling) self guided cycling tour along a dedicated cycle pathway beside the Pacific Coast and estuary trails through a birdlife sanctuary to visit an iconic Hawke’s Bay winery. Some of our renowned wineries (Crab Farm, Mission Estate and Church Road or Elephant Hill, Clearview, Te Awanga) are all within 7-13km away. OPTIONS: ride a standard pushbike or choose a cruisy E-Bike (available for all sizes - 140cm-195cm).

You will meet us at our base at the Napier port village of Ahuriri – a seaside village full of cafes and shops which is 3km from the Napier i-site (your drop off point for the boats shuttle bus). You can catch an uber or ride an e-scooter along the trails to our base in Ahuriri - a great way to start your adventure. We will have your bike ready to go, give you a briefing and a map so you can navigate your way along the trails to your place of choice. 

Choose your ride from the following options (NOTE all riding is there and back - we don't offer pick ups):

  1. 20km/12 miles (approx. 2 hours cycling) Bayview Loop to take in Crab Farm Winery (open Thursdays-Sunday) 
  2. OPTION: extend the ride 12km/7.5 miles to Taradale and include Mission Estate (open 7 days) and Church Road winery (open Thursday- Monday) 
  3. 26km/15.5 miles  (approx. 2.5 hours cycling) Ride Ahuriri Estuary trails to Taradale to visit Mission Estate (open 7 days) and Church Road winery (open Thursday- Monday)
PLEASE BOOK AHEAD  if you want to visit wineries - to avoid disappointment. They could be booked out or closed on the day you want to visit!

Visit Hawke’s Bay leading wineries in Taradale or Cape Kidnappers and choose a wine tasting or grab a bite to eat, before heading back to the start - Takaro base in Ahuriri. If you are short on time, we can shuttle you around to Napier I-site to catch the bus back to your ship - please check if this is available.

  • The cycling is completely flat and gentle, so suitable for all riders with a moderate level of fitness. 
  • We will provide you with maps plus Takaro Trails support is available throughout the day should it be required.
  • Child is 14 years and under and if you are wanting to book e-bikes, must be over 135cm.
