Cape Coast Winery Ride with STANDARD Bike (16 km, 6 wineries)

A very scenic cycle featuring some of the regions favourite wineries, our most popular tour!  

NOTE: this product is the STANDARD pushbike option - if you require an EBIKE please select the Cape Coast Winery Ride EBIKE option.

TOUR DETAILS for the Cape Winery Tour

The shuttle van leaves our base in Ahuriri at 10am each morning to take you & your bikes to the starting point at Clifton, Cape Kidnappers, please be at the Tākaro Trails base at 9.50am so you  don't miss it. If you have indicated you would like to be picked up from your accommodation we will confirm the pick up time within 24 hours of your tour - it will be between 10am & 10.30am.

We will then transfer you to the start of your adventure at Clifton near Cape Kidnappers. Head into Hygge Café who have an amazing array of food and a great spot to have a coffee or even breakfast.   

Cycling along the picturesque coastal trail from Clifton in 4km you’ll be ready for your first taste of some fine wine at the friendly Clearview Estate and upmarket Elephant Hill. 

You will then enjoy a 16km cycle through the coastal communities of Haumoana and Te Awanga linking to the limestone cycle trail following the Tuki Tuki River.  Stop at Askerne along the way - a friendly, family winery which offers the best value wine tasting and gourmet picnics! The views are stunning as you cycle the raised stop-bank trail and look out over orchards, vineyards and  farmlands.

Coming off the river trail you will quickly get to Te Mata Estate and Black Barn (pick up point). OPTION take a detour to Craggy Range along a new bike path - approx 4km there and back.

If lunch is on your ‘wish-list’ we highly recommend booking in advance (SATURDAY and Public Holidays BOOKINGS are ESSENTIAL - you won't get lunch otherwise). If you are a big group then we recommend booking wine tastings as well (see winery links below).

Allow at least one hour to cycle from Te Awanga to the Havelock North end of the trails. We generally recommend booking lunch for 1.30-2pm.

Total of 6hrs for this tour. At the end of the day you will be collected from Black Barn 4pm and transferred back to Ahuriri or your accommodation if required.

DETOUR - Craggy Range - to get here you ride over a hill on a roadside trail 4km there and back, YOU MUST BOOK for wine tastings here $50pp (a visit here will add on about 1.5-2 hours to your tour)

40min ride from Askerne - Te Mata Estate - no need for bookings here – but limited space, max number 10ppl. OPEN 7 days

END – shuttle will leave Black Barn 4pm to head back to Napier.

Pick-up from your accommodation - from $15pp (so you don't have to drive at all). NOTE - no pick ups offered from Top 10 Napier Beach Holiday Park in Bayview.

"No Worries" upgrade package - $10pp this package gives you all the extras including bike theft insurance, a bottle of water, extra comfortable gel seat cover, cellphone holder, plus a carrier bag (to hold all the bottles of wine that you will buy!)
