SELF-GUIDED CYCLE WINERY TOUR for all CRUISE SHIP visitors to Napier – 4 hours.

Explore Hawke’s Bay by standard pedal bike – a fun, easy cycle ride to visit to up to 4 of the top winery establishments in Hawke’s Bay. Visit Hawke’s Bay leading wineries and choose a wine tasting or grab a bite to eat, before heading back to the start - Takaro base in Ahuriri. We will shuttle you to and from the Napier I-site to our base (4km distance) - please check your contact details so we can get a message to you for this. Shuttle times to be determined depending on your ships arrival time - our van will be waiting approx. one hour after disembarkment. (Note: not all wineries are open everyday, please see winery opening days below)

We will send you on an easy self guided cycling route (from 20km/12 miles approx. 2 hours cycling but up to 40km/24 miles if you want!) along a dedicated coastal cycle pathway beside the Pacific Ocean to trails through farmland and estuary trails where you will cycle through a birdlife sanctuary. Visit some of our world renowned wineries along the way (Crab Farm, Mission Estate, Church Road, Urban Winery), all within 7-13km away. NOTE: This tour is for riding a standard pushbike (available for all sizes - 120cm-195cm).

You will start at our base at the Napier city across the road from the Napier isite (your drop off point for the boats shuttle bus). We will have your bike ready to go, give you a briefing and a map so you can navigate your way along the trails to your place of choice. Choose the distance you ride from 20km/12miles to 45km/28miles (NOTE all riding is there and back to our base in Ahuriri)

PLEASE BOOK AHEAD if you want to visit wineries - to avoid disappointment. They could be booked out or closed on the day you want to visit!

  • The cycling is completely flat and gentle, so suitable for all riders with a moderate level of fitness. 
  • We will provide you with maps plus Takaro Trails support is available throughout the day should it be required.
  • Child is 14 years and under and if you are wanting to book e-bikes, must be over 135cm.

  • We recommend that you bring a water bottle, sun screen and a jacket.
